Depeneds on age, area you live and driving record. For me the price was nearly the same.

I would get one for the wife next time accept she needs more room for carrying so we will look at a SUV next time. She has to drive it.

I would have considered a V6 Camaro if they had been out a year so the prices had dropped. I needed a vehicle last year and could not wait. I have no regret buying the SS but next time is could very well be a Camaro. My FWD is fine but I miss the RWD as that is all I drove accept for the wife's car.

Steering with the rear wheels and a LSD rear in the snow is a lot of fun. I missed it last year.

If I had close to $30k to spend, and followed my heart, I'd be driving a Challenger. However, I have a boy to put through college in 8 years, gas will go sky high again, and I only had $14,000 to spend. I like my HHR for its personality, versatility, and it is pretty peppy. If I was rich and gas prices didn't matter, I'd have a Challenger and a '50 Merc sled.

My dad was looking at a loaded Corvair at a dealer in 1965, and the saleman looked at Dad and said, "You know, for that money you can order an Impala". Dad came home with a red 1965 327 Impala SS (YES!). I love my HHR, but to me the HHR SS models can tread on some territory above its level when loaded out. In other words, I'd be pretty unhappy about features of my car if I paid double for it than I did (thin sheetmetal, interior plastics, etc). Just my opinions. God Bless, Marc

Their all thin metal and plastic interiors on all Chevys. Just on the newer cars they have learned to dress it up like the Asians.

Still buy the Merc How often ands far would you drive it. It is a weekend car.

I love my SS, but I'd have the Camaro in a heartbeat if I didn't need it to DD in snow. That price seems high for the HHR.

The price was my point...although I was glad to stir up the pot with my post.

Why is the HHR SS so damned expensive...????? Doesn't almost $30,000 seem too much for what is supposed to be an "economy" car...even with the performance..?

I would LOVE to have an HHR SS...but at the time of my purchase in 2008, gas was $4.57 per gallon in SoCal. I needed the best mileage I could get, and still haul some cargo. My pickup costs too much to operate as a daily driver.

It's the price that shocked me...!!!!

They are nire expensive to build and people will pay more for them. Got to make a profit some where as GM has not been making it on the other basic cars.

Nothing about a V6 as a somewhat muscle car impresses me

It really depends on what you want and how it will be used. Me, I am a Chevy performance guy. I wanted the HHR/SS when it came out and I waited until 2009 to buy one. I love turbos and I needed something with cargo space to haul my guitar amp to shows. I also love the Camaro......but it would not suit my needs as there is no cargo space.Plus the HHR is front wheel drive which is good for the brutal northeast winters. Last,if I was going to buy a Camaro,it would be the SS with v8.
I also feel that both cars are overpriced. My HHR/SS set me back almost 29,000. My 07 HHR/2LT was $21,000 fully loaded. I hate that GM gave us only cloth seaths in the SS,I really miss my nice leather heated seats in the 07. GM's terrible use of plastic in their interiors is a real turn off. The Camaro is cool inside but not that awesome. At least your dealer is selling at sticker.......my dealer is selling ALL the Camaros at $10,000 over sticker......I say they can shove them.......
