Carrying Fuel?

The HHR is my first vehicle without a separate rear trunk or pickup bed. I don’t like the idea of carrying extra fuel in the passenger compartment. Do any of you have any experiences or input?

Safe fuel containers? Locations used outside the passenger compartment?

If you have a sealed can it should be no issue.

I sit them under the rear deck and onlyh had one fall over once. It was closed and nothing spilled.

The newer plastic cans without breathers are what I use, they don't smell at all, but I don't usually have it in the car for more than an hour or so.

I highly recommend the Eagle safety steel cans. They are bottom heavy, have flame arrestors in the neck, and they have a tight fitting, snap shut closure. Well worth the extra cost over the more common Blitz plastic cans.

Ya, but they stink for pouring fuel!
