CGS - Ceramic vs. Painted

Looking for anyone's opinion... but specifically from the experts around here.

Looking at purchasing the CGS intake in the near future.

I notice Mike's got them with the Ceramic coat and the Painted type.

I'm wondering if there is any 'true' benefit to the extra expense of the Ceramic, vs. the Painted. Or is it just about 'looking cool'?

Anyone have an opinion to weigh in here?

I did a search but couldn't find anything specific to this.

Interesting question. But, I believe SoCal, in one of his posts, indicated he is not carrying the painted CGS, only the ceramic......although other suppliers probably have the painted version.

Good question for SoCal...what are the benefits, etc. ?

They're both listed on the product page:

Determine what you want .. looks or protection..

Another option..
Use Insulation wrapping on the tube, will help reduce engine compartment heat --

Right on...HV.

Ronzo.... yeah, I see that. But, check with Mike. The link for the ceramic version says he will only carry that version. Maybe until he liquidates the painted inventory.

I guess I missed that part. Sorry.

So... Hv didn't really answer the question of whether there's any real benefit to the Ceramic over the Painted, or maybe I missed that too? Should I get new glasses?

I know if I answer it my way.. it will be another battle of wits..

I'm just showing theres another option..
I'm sure everyone with the non- ceramic coating ones, is going to get rid of their non coated ones...

So.. while keeping your old ones.. header/insulation wrap tape can provide you the benefit of heat protection to your intake...

I have a Motorcycle with ceramic coating exhaust... ( their still hot )

So you're saying that in your opinion, there's no real difference?

I'm not looking to start a thread which starts a fight... I'm just looking for honest (tactful) opinions here.

I have the painted one and love it! If the ceramic had been available, I would have gotten it for the looks. I can't see there being enough of a benefit, not saying there isn't one, to justify the cost for that reason alone.

I'll end up re-painting mine or having it chromed anyway.

And you are correct, his site is listing them again.
