Cheap Cargo Area Protector

Cheap Cargo Area Protector
Was looking for a light weight inexpensive cargo area protector. I use my HHR for all sorts of things and needed the coverage. The one I had my eye on finally went on sale ($14.99 at Pep Boys). It is a 46" X 93" anti fatigue foam floor mat. I simply traced the rear mat onto the mat, cut it to that shape, then took care of the rest free hand. Very easy to do & cuts with scissors. 1st pic is unfolded in cargo area only, 2nd pic is "storage" of extra flap to cover front folded seat, 3rd is fully extended. When I was done the kids wanted to know if they could go camping...

Looked since I bought the HHR in 08/2009 for an inexpensive light weight black one. All the black was in rubber and would have been to heavy & cumbersome as a one piece. Gave up and bought this. Can roll up easy and store on an out of the way shelf when not in use. For $14.99 I can't complain.

Also found it at Big Lots for $18 and I may have remembered seeing it at BJs Warehouse for $20. Just remember this is light weight stuff which is just what I needed-coverage protection from lumber, bags of chips or soil, everyday type of stuff.

Nice job! I did almost the same thing with a rubber backed carpet, like those you would see in a store entryway during the winter. (Pics in my gallery) I didn't cut it to go over the front seat like that but it runs full length of the back, my back seat is always down...... In the pics there is a blanket over the carpet where the back seat is, but the carpet does cover that area. I got it new surplus for about $20.
It would be heavier than that foam, but not by much...... and I never take it out anyways.
