What are you using to bust these puppies off?

Goose
Deep well impact socket with breaker bar. Install by hand and torque with torque wrench.

I use a 4-way lug wrench, works great.

I have no problem getting the lugs off that the dealership folks put on with those damned impact wrenches.

I'd recommend painting them with caliper paint or high temp paint as well. Otherwise they will just rust up again.

If your dealer or anyone is using air wrench there is where your rotor warp is coming from

You need to be a little careful with 4-ways, since the arms you apply the torque on are by definition half way out along the arm that's on the nut. If you lust push down on one arm, you apply a lot of pressure to push the socket off the nut, and cheap ones can crack or distort and slip off, so you need to either support the opposite end of the one that's on the nut, or apply torque evenly to both sides. That's easy if you're facing the wheel with both arms on it, but with a foot on one side, and pulling up on the other side for difficult nuts, not so good, something in my back went ping! some time ago doing that. A breaker bar, deep socket, keeping the bar close to the wheel is the best way to go.

VHT paint works very well on the rear drums, not very expensive, and they have like 100 colors, can get it almost anywhere nowwa days. You can clean your drums with sand paper, brushes, whatever you want, your not going to hurt them!!! Being that is you ever get your wheels off

I bought a cross wrench and that did the trick (on one lug at least) Will change rims out tomorrow, also got a floor jack from Wally World to speed things up a bit

I also got a steel wire brush to maybe have at the rust on the drums....for you guys who have used a brush on the drums, does it scrape down to the metal? I'm not ready to do any painting..if that is the case I'll just leave the rust there

I doubt a wire brush will get all the rust off. I used a wire wheel on a drill, then brake cleaner.

But if you're doing that much, it would be more worthwhile to paint them in my opinion. It looks so much better too.
