In some states, storing a handgun in the glove box, even if it locks, is not legal.

Here in the Demokratik Peoople's Republik of Kalifornia, even if there's a lockable gloove box, it not legal to carry a handgun there. You have to have the gun in locked storage other than the glove box with the ammo not in the same container.

If it were me, I'd get one of those "Gun Vault" products. They allow pretty quick access but also are locked.

On the idea of using a trigger lock then concealing the gun under the seat...that may be legal in some states but not in others.
