Creaking Rear Hatch

Anyone having this problem also? It sounds like a creak or a squeak when you go over a bump or uneven spot in the road. Almost sounds like a warn out suspension noise. Definitely coming from the hatch though.

The dealer has replaced the four contact blocks when it was in last week for the noisy headliner and now it's worse. It's back at the dealer today to continue to fix both of these problems plus a rattle in the dash.

Has anyone come up with a fix? I don't have much confidence the dealer will ever fix it.

Thanks.

Got it also, but on smooth roads it is fine. I can live with it so far. Think there was another thread on it also but no solution that I know of.

On mine it seems more like body flex causing the interior quarter panels to rub. I only notice it when backing out of my sloped driveway onto the road.

I dont have one when im driving, mine comes when its cold and I just open the hatch, but of course when I take it to the dealer it doesnt do it so they dont fix anything.

I agree it's more like a body flexing thing but I don't think it's the interior panels. The dealer says it's the hatch contact points. Two are rubber and I think two are hard plastic. They replaced these trying to fix the noise and it got worse. Go figure. They are trying again. We will see. It drives me nuts!

Probably the latch. Take some electrical tape and wrap the latch hook. Our '06 did this very bad but no issues with our '08.

Well, after 4 days I got the car back and they fixed the hatch so far. Said they adjusted the latch to pull the hatch tighter when closed but I couldn't get any details.

Now if they could just fix the headliner rattle!

I have the same trouble. I've tried gen. purpose oil & white lithium spray on grease.

I have the same trouble. I've tried general purpose oil & white lithium spray-on grease. The creak won't go away. It's sounding as though the metal is having to bend slightly, almost a groan sound. But putting lubricant on it helps. It seems that it's not penetrating or there's metal on metal pressure that overcomes the grease and grinds it out of there.

If it is the lift gate making noise the adjustment is the 2 black blocks on the sides of the opening. Adjust them until it is fixed.
