Creaking Rear Hatch
#11
I have the same trouble. I've tried general purpose oil & white lithium spray-on grease. The creak won't go away. It's sounding as though the metal is having to bend slightly, almost a groan sound. But putting lubricant on it helps. It seems that it's not penetrating or there's metal on metal pressure that overcomes the grease and grinds it out of there.
Your problem is not the same thing as their's was. Your car is 11 years old. In other words, it's old and worn. I would be looking for worn out parts, not just something to adjust. Maybe even some body damage repairs from a previous owner.

This is worth a shot......
Take a rag and clean the U latch on the deck.
Give it an application of white lithium grease. Most hardware stores have it in a small tube.
Here is the KEY.......
Apply the grease in the right spot !!!!
Look to see how the hatch latch contacts the U latch.
Not on the top like many think, but on the outward upright portion of the U.
Mine drove me nuts until I figured that out.
