Cruise Engaged

Hello All,

After having the car for several months I finally attempted to try out the cruise control feature. I was suprised when the DIC said "Cruise Engaged" it was cool that you can press the + button to increase speed and - button to decrease in speed. It was nice to drive without useing the accelerator. However when you step on the breaks to stop the cruise control, there is no indication on the DIC that the cruise control is not active anymore.

You seriously haven't tried your cruise control untill now? I couldn't live without it in areas around the city where I know police like to give tickets. It keeps me from getting too heavy footed.

Yep I just attempted to use it this past week. I never had a need. I do have a 28 mile drive to and from work. Usually some traffic either direction. However I found plenty of open space and decided to kick it into cruise control. I was surpised. I barely recall using it on my old car. However the experience using it with the HHR was more enjoyable.

Since I don't have my HHR yet I can't comment on it's particulars, but cruise control (in general) is a must and I use it as often as i can. It saves on speeding tickets......I have a lead foot.

I like the fact that you can slow it down by pressing the "set -" button and then it resets to whatever speed you let go.

It kinda feels like its putting pressure on the breaks as it slows down. Or is it me?

Nope, your cruise control has nothing to do with the brakes.

your brake pedal will dis-engage your cruize if you tap your brake. this is a saftey feature. read up on it in your owners manual. sooooo many people have never read it.

I like the "Turbo Boost" function:

Hold down the "+" button firmly while in cruise - just make sure you point your HHR in a safe, uncrowded direction!

What were they thinking?
