I would like to know when my baby was born
I am the proud new owner of 2010 HHR that I took posession of on 1 January 2010 from my local Chevy Dealer. I would like talso like to know when my baby was built if it isnt to much trouble. the last 8 of my vin are AS554768. Unfortuantely I have to turn her over to the body shop today to get fixed(for the second time in one month). first time a hit a nice little orange pole that they use to devide the lanes going into the gate at the Air Force Base wehre I work, clipped the drivers side mirror. That cost me a grand total of $207 to have replaced and installed. Second one I was run off the road by an induvidual in nice big white Explorer talking on a cell phone, ran up on the curb and dented my lower passenger side bumper cover all the way back to the faux fog light hole. Insurance is covering this one. Probably will be without her for about 3 days, while they paint match the bumper cover, install it, and do a front end alignment. I will be in a super compact rental from Enterprise untill I get my baby back. I am a previous Dodge owner and have had my fill of them, before that I owned a 1990 Nissan King Cab that the only mod I did was install a custom stereo with 2 15" subs in the back that took up all the extra room. Prior to that I had a 1972 Pinto wagon that had the all the back glass(except for the rear lifgate) filled in to look like a panel/delivery, Mustang 2 sway bars, 2.8 V-6 from a German Capri(Dual 48mm Webers), shaved door handles(used a power window keyd lock from an old Country Squire rear door, installed just behind the drivers door), self made custom ground effects, Frenched Dual antennas on the passenger side rear of the door, and Louvered hood. Also owned a 1972 Ford Ranchero 500 that I dropped a 429/C-6 into that I built my self Running a Wiend Stealth intake, Holly 750 vaccum secondary, 4.11 gears, 33 spline Detroit Locker, Lunati Bracket Master II cam, Dove-C heads ported and polished my self on a flow bench with 72cc combustion chambers, Dynoed at 550hp and 650 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels. Ran a 10.18 in the 1320 @ 118mph. Pass anything but a gas station at 4 mpg running 93 Octaine with Octaine boost if I couldnt find 107 Octaine Avation fuel. I am not new to modding cars, and plan to make mine a semi sleeper. I have never done anything with Blowers/Supoerchargers before and am debating that one, and have done nothing with computer chips before, but plan on doing something with that. A littel about my back ground, I was an aircraft welder/machinist also doing heat treatment and cadmium coatings in the Air Force for 5 years and 2 months, was on an Air Battle Damage Team where I also learned Non Destructive Inspection, and Aricraft Corrosion Control/Sheet Metal. After that I pulled a 3 year stint with Boeing as conventional Lathe operator in their machine shop before going over to work Flight Controls for the 747/767/777 when they were going to lay off in the machine shop. When the Union went on strike I went to work Civil Service with DOD working Depot Maintenance on F-15 Wings, then C-5 Engine side cowl, and now on the C-130 Ruders/Elevators. If it deals with metal I have pretty much done it except for Metal bonding and Compsits. Just havent had a chance to learn that yet. Did I mention I also like to ramble and soon forget where I am going with my conversation? Anyways, just saying "Hi" from the Peach State(Georgia). Hope to learn alot here, and also hope to contribute anything I can. 8-D
