Dealer banged up my car!!

Dealer banged up my car!!
I give up!! Took the HHR to a different dealer to try and get some of my problems fixed and when I go to pick it up there is a dent and some scratches on the drivers rear fender.
They are going to fix it but I have to say I'm not very optimistic on the outcome. It took the other dealer four tries and a new bumper cover to get my front bumper painted correctly.
Oh, and they still didn't fix 2 of the problems. I really wish there was a good dealer around here.

That's really a shame...just keep on them and don't give up until they do it right. Sad that during such a trying economic time like we're going thru now, it's getting harder and harder to get quality service...whether it's warranty work or repairs/services we have to pay for.

I see your in Charleston, Which dealership did you use? Mine had a scrape on it when I got it, they matched my Daytona Blue perfectly. I will say that Rick Hendrick Chevy has went downhill. I use Marathon in N Chas and never had a problem with them. I even live in Summerville and use them.

Solman - McElveen in Mt. Pleasant is who I used this last time. Rick Hendrick has been all of the other attempts and where I bought it from. Hendrick has been an absolute nightmare fixing my wifes car and mine. Maybe Marathon will be my next try.
Deb- I'm beginning to think good service is gone in general. It is a shame.
I may just try to fix my 2 problems myself with suggestions from this board. At least I know the guy doing the work.

So, where are you located anyway? I'm moving this summer, maybe a local meet & greet before I leave.... Granted, it would be small.

Hope they fix it right. This reminds me of one time I took my Honda in for warranty work. Another customer hit it and ruined the rear bumper. At lest she paid to get it fixed without a hassle! Again, I hope you have as good luck getting yours fixed.

Where are you going to Solman? Had enough of CAFB??
I remember you mentioned where to before but I disremember
Oh...it isn't just Chevy..I have owned just about every brand under the sun and the only one that was worth their salt was a Saturn dealer..they basically had to rebuild my Vue piece by piece..the only good thing in that vehicle was the Honda 3.5L engine

Solman, I'm on James Island. A meet and greet sounds fun. Do you go to any of the show or cruise nights around here? I try to get to a couple, usually with my old Blazer though. Thanks for the recommendation on Marathon, maybe I'll try them next.
I'll let ya'll know the outcome of this. Hopefully it will be good.

Well....as I figured the repair job was pretty poor. They did a good job fixing the dent but did an awful job with the paint. A little more time on the prep work was all they needed for the paint to come out nice. Now it's got to go to the body shop to get fixed.
I don't understand why they rush and cut corners. It would be much more beneficial in the end to do it right the first time.

So, I thought I'd post an update. It's become a nightmare.
I took the car back to let it go to a body shop. Well, when I got there the service manager wanted to meet me and look at the car. Great, here we go. He looked at it and decided we needed to let his touch up guy work on it again. He was sure that he could make it perfect the second time. So now, conveniently, the body shop trip was out. I agreed only if he was sure that it would be fixed correctly and look as good as it was before it got wrecked. So they give me a rental for the two days they had it. It was a piece of junk and by my mistake I didn't go around it to check for damage but I don't think it had any. This mistake may bite me. Always check a rental when you pick it up!!!!
So, I go to pick up the HHR on the afternoon of the second day. The service manager again deals with me, I'm not happy still, they painted over fish eye so there is pits all over the quarter and bumper. There is sanding marks and dull spots in a number of places. The manager would not agree it looked bad and asked that I would take it for a couple days to let the paint cure and then bring it back to be polished again. If I still didn't like it then they would send it to a body shop but in his words "they won't do any better". I reluctantly agreed because I need my car back for the weekend. So back to the rental car. The dealer told me to leave the rental at the dealer and they would have it picked up by the rental agency. They do this all the time.
So.. now I am getting a call from the rental agency saying the rental car has been hit on the passenger corner of the bumper and I'm going to have to pay for it. This is a half a day later from when I dropped it off at the dealer, which means its been sitting there all that time. I drove it home, to Lowes, and back to the dealer. It didn't have a chance to get damaged. And no, I don't think it got hit at Lowes. I would have noticed it if it's as bad as the rental agency is making it out to be.
This is ridiculous, I have crap paint on my quarter panel and I have to pay for a damaged rental I didn't do. I'm so mad I could spit bullets. It doesn't help that I went to this dealer for service because the dealer I purchased it from was so bad.
Solman and anyone else in the Charleston, SC area be careful parking your car at McElveen in Mt. Pleasant. I will not go near that place again. Everyone, I'm sorry if it seems like all I do is complain on this board, but I must be jinxed when it comes to dealers and new car problems.
