dealer doesn't want to install fog lights

While I had my HHR in for water leak repairs I asked the dealer for a price to install fog lights. After reading some of the posts about GM voiding warranty after mods were done, I though I would have the dealer install the lights. They told me that it was not an option on the LS and they wouldn't install them.

When I bought my car I bought the extended warranty for 5yrs/100,000 miles. I didn't want to have to worry about repairs after the 3yr/36,000. Now I'm afraid to do anything to it.

If I install fog lights and have any other electrical problem will GM tell me my warranty is void?

I guess they could deny warranty, but in all honesty I doubt they would notice you did it. Would you hook them up with an aftermarket switch, or use a factory switch on the center dash? If it looked factory they would never know the difference.

I agree. Do a nice stock looking job and nobody would be the wiser.

However, no they can't void your warranty for such things. honestly.

But it does sound like from your threads that you have a douche of a dealership.

The wiring is probably not there for the foglights. So they would have to modify the factory wiring. I can understand why they would turn that down.

I imagine that if you get them installed and they work properly, you are good.

If you installed them and then immediately burn up the wiring harness or destroy the battery you may have a problem.

Since you are willing to pay the dealer, pay for a professional installation elsewhere and let them assume the risk of a botched job.

Maybe try a different dealership and see what they say about installing the factory fog lights for you. Some dealerships are more willing to please their customers than others.

True enough. I just bought 2.5 months ago, and when I got it the driver side arm rest in the door was broken. Though not a usual covered item, they replaced it for me @ no cost.
