Deciding to go with 2.4l LT

Since the HHR SS is going to be a little to pricey for my budget ive decided im going to try and purchase a LT w/ 2.4l and a manual trans. I like the Imp Blue, White, and Dark silver colors. Im going to wait till spring when i know ill have more money to tryand purchase a Turbo kit for the engine. Probably go with Hahn, and i will work directly through them to see what i can get. Between now and then i going to focus on visual mods, and maybe a lowering kit. whats some good starting points/reccomendations. any help appreciated. prolly go to the dealer either sat or next week on my day off to see what i can work out.

If you are planning on adding a turbo kit, you might want to look at used '06s that are hitting the lots right now. You are going to void the warrenty on the engine the moment that you slap that turbo on, so why pay the extra scratch for the new car with full warrenty. It can take some searching, but you can find some really nice HHRs out there. I just purchased a 2LT with all the options except the spoiler (I think) for under $15K. I don't think the dealer (Chrysler store) really new what they had. I plan on riding out the warrenty (36K) and then making a few mods to the engine too. No turbo for me, but definately a cold air intake kit, and possibly a chip. Hell, I might not be able to wait that long for the intake kit

Great advice, Frozenspokes! From the looks of it, most '06s will last quite a while and the price will keep going down since the new model prices have not increased much.

They don't stock any with a manual transmission down here on the Gulf Coast. Go to Carfinder.com and see if you can find one across the country.

Check internet deals for dealers in the Austin area, I'm still seeing several new 2007 LT 1 and 2 mod. with auto and standards available here. Plus you will get a lot better deal going through the internet sales department.

If you want to go with f/i then i would recommend getting an 07 2.2. The 2.4 with the VVT will never hold up long with f/i. I don't think it will be too long before programing is out for the the 07 2.2's and you'll probably never see it for the 06's.

so the HHR i am looking at is a 1LT 2007. priced at 19,315. after rebates and then adding back in taxes the dealers manager was telling me im looking at 18500, too much for a 2007? figure maybe get them down to 18000
