DIC - Message Center

Yesterday while coming home from my little (almost 500 miles) trip, we encountered a message on the DIC - "Ice Possible". I barely caught it before the display reverted back to the normal temp/miles display. The weather at the time was about 35 degrees and the wipers were on intermittent. The traction control light hadn't come on for several hours - we were on the return trip, and the traction control light came on when we were driving in some snow covered roads on the initial trip down to WV, so, several hours had gone by.

I guess my questions are:
#1 - Has anyone else experienced this message?
#2 - What precipitated the message?
#3 - What other weather related messages can we expect or see?
#4 - Does it also tell me when my steaks are done?

BTW - I ran a search to see if anyone else had ever seen this and received no responses in the search.

I see that all the time when it's 20 degrees and I'm on a sheet of ice...... I'm like "No $&@# Sherlock!"

Living in Florida now, I made a trip to Maine in Dec 2006 and that message popped up. It was below 32 at the time so I knew that yes, ice was possible and the DIC early warning system.

I can see in the near future as the government takes over, they will mandate that the max speed of a car will be 30 mph if there is the "ice possible" message pops up to keep drivers from doing anything that may cause unsafe driving.

We now have traction control, tire pressure monitors, back up cameras, close proximetry warning systems, blind spot warning messages on some cars, auto head lights, auto wipers etc.

When temps come close to freezing, it pops up..
Personally, I get it every winter..
I do believe that that is the only WEATHER related one, however there is another one that could be weather related with variances in temperature, and pressure of your tires..

I see that little warning half a dozen times over the winter here in Carolina, sadly there is no corresponding "Heat Stroke Possible" warning on the DIC for the summer.

Ahh, I could top either one of those. I should have taken pictures of the speedo cluster when we went to my neice's wedding in Palm Desert, Ca. a couple of summers ago. It was hotter than either of those at night....daytime temp was 119°.

@DaGrinch, I have read your post about your situation with your HHR. What model year do you have?
