Dirty Rear Window

A spoiler may help a bit, the folks with them can really tell you for sure. You'll always have a dirty rump on the HHR's because the back end sits in its own self contained low pressure area. What would really do the trick is a spoiler that would direct air flow down the back of the truck, kind of giving it a self cleaning feature. The drawback to this would be increased drag and lower gas mileage.

Back in the old days with car wagons they used a wind defector that defected the air off the roof and down the rear window. This was not good for todays aero sensitive cars so they use a wiper today on SUV's and similar wagon like vehicles.
The spoilers ont HHR have no effect and if anything I think the SS may even increase it by over hanging the door.
A wide flap across the entire rear also would help as this too was used in the old days. But for looks it would be horrible.
Just use the standard wiper and washer fluid as it works.
IF you drive fast enough what ever behind you should not matter LOL!

The rear wiper does a good job. I've had wagons with no rear wiper and it was like driving with no rear window. Window washer fluid, and wiper. I use mine when I get to drive in the rain and the rear window becomes translucent from the water spray.
