Actually, I had a slip of the finger (or a brain fart, at my age) . Give me a break, I'm on vacation....sitting on the beach in Hawaii.

How was the HHR riding the waves on the way over? Big Kahuna may be interested in this.

I use this procedure to lock my HHR and not arm the alarm.

1) Turn car off and remove key from ignition.
2) Lock all doors with the door lock button (on the door)
3) Lift the driver's side door lock pin.
4) Get out and manually lock the driver's door.

OK... let me be clear. Unlike "sunset" (post #1) who wants the lock the car using the driver door lock button "without setting the alarm" (which by the way IS the way my 2008 HHR 2LT functions)... I DO want the alarm to be armed when I press the driver door lock button! (like my older 2006 model did). Maybe I’m in the wrong thread (disable alarm system)… I want to ENABLE the alarm system!

I don't understand "aah111" (post #17) method to lock without arming alarm. My doors lock WITHOUT the alarm being set just by normal procedure: turning of the car, remove keys, open driver door, lock using door lock button, get out (if not already out), and close the door. (No need to pull/push door lock pin)

Does anyone with a 2008 HHR have the ability to set the alarm using the driver door lock button? (if YES, please verify... see my post #3)

That's not possible from the current set-up. The BCM needs to see the switch operate or the key fob in order to set the alarm. It doesn't see manually locking the rod or using the key since there is no flow of current.

When I stated "door lock button" I was referring to the door lock switch on the side of the door... not the "rod" or "using key". (I'm trying to make myself clear, sorry for the confusion)

TO CLARIFY, a here is a re-write of my post #18:

OK... let me be clear(2nd try).
