Disarming traction control on 2007 hhr 2.4l

I have a 2007 HHR 2.4L. i'm going to turbocharge. My problem is with the traction control. it's only disarmed in low1. low 2 and drive it automatically turns on. if applying 300hp the wheels tend to spin in second, then tc kills the throttle until a wheel hooks up. this i find dangerous. is there a fix for this?

When you find a solution, let me know.......

Seriously though, I've thought about this but haven't looked into it yet. The "other way" to shut off traction control is by setting the E-brake...... There's got to be a switch somewhere in the E-brake system doing this........ What about replicating that switch with a dash-mounted switch. Seems feasible, but as I said I haven't ripped anything apart yet.

I suspect if you use a switch to simulate setting the E-brake, you will be stuck with that E-brake/Parking brake on, message on the DIC.

That would depend on how the switches are setup, I've not pulled my console so I don't know what's there. On the '07 there's no "parking brake" message.... just the red "brake" message which would also come on for brake failure...... T/C could be on a different switch.

My 07 most definately has a parking brake on message on the DIC, and mine was manufactured, I believe in December of 06.

Well, if you're going turbo, you definitely need a tune. If using HPTuners, traction control can be toned down or eliminated entirely in the tune.

There is a fix ...possibly

http://www.easyperformance.com/Auto_..._TCS_Desc.html

This sets your default TC OFF.

I have one if you wan't to experiment, you probably have to study how it will fit to the HHR's wiring harness.

Someone local mentioned taking it to a race car tuner and possibly have them turn it off in the computer, but I havent called anyone yet to see about it! i guess in 08 they figured out they needed a button with the SS model coming out.. Also TC is off in Low 1, so theres a swith on the shifter too evidently.

On the shifter or in the tranny..... hopefully it's at the shifter. I think the manual version has a switch. Personally I want a switch and not have it tuned out completely, but that's me.....
