Disconnecting OnStar
#11
yeah I can see getting your car shut down for no other reason then mistaken identity..much the same as those paper ladies getting over 30 bullet holes thru the back of their pickup...its the complacency of the people to allow more and more intrusions to fuel even more intrusions from the very people they elected...and not doing anything wrong doesn't protect you from over zealous wannabe's...if one wants to stay 'off the grid' thats their right. Its true they monitor way more then we realize, so why give em more to use..

I'll throw the phone out the window of my untraceable HHR while I'm driving a load of guns, ammo, gold, bibles and emergency food to my prepper hideout location.... So that's that.

There are 2 units behind the right rear wheel once I pull the panels off. Of the 2, the one closest to the inside is larger and resembles every image and schematic telling me that it is indeed the ONstar unit. Once unplugged, I am no longer able to start the car. Has there been a change from the '08 to '09 models that's ties the computer to the onstar unit? I'm at a loss, thought I had this figured. Anyone with an '09 or newer ever disconnected this spy-box?
Thanks

Small Correction
Of all my possible suggestions made in post #10, disconnecting the Antennas from the VCIM is the only option I would currently recommend. Removing power to the VCIM and or the DRR will bring up codes that are unnecessary for someone to try to troubleshoot. Plus there is a power backup battery in the VCIM that would drain and become unusable to the next owner of the vehicle.
