The Cimarron was definitely a Cavalier in a rented tux. Reminds me of the old saying ... you can put lipstick on a pig but all it does is waste the lipstick and irritate the pig.

I think there was a Pontiac flavor of the Citation. Maybe. Seem to remember it possibly.
I remember when the Citation first came out. I was in high school and my parents were new car shopping at the time. I was a subscriber to Car & Driver magazine at the time and they did a cover story on the Citation, basically a glowing road test review. I soooo wanted mom and dad to choose the Citation for their car over the Plymouth Volare wagon they were getting ready to get. But they got the Plymouth instead. Mistake. But then again the Citation would probably have been a mistake, too, in hind sight. The car I wanted for me at the time was a Camaro, though. Never could afford it on my high school part time wages. Settled for a '69 Cutlass, 350 4bbl love machine.
