I just chewed out my son for leaving the gas can out front after cutting the grass, there's $20 worth of gas in that thing!

know the pain... my lawn tractor gobbles 5 gals at a time.... think i need a locking gas cap for it

This thread reminds me of a story on the local news a couple of weeks ago where a couple of Mensa types (not) went to one of the local car dealer's thinking that with all those big pickups with their big gas tanks, there must be just a bunch of gas to steal, and it'd be easy enough, because all you have to do is crawl under and drill a hole in the tank.
So, they proceeded to do just that, to 16 trucks.
The service manager said they probably got about 20-22 gallons, all told.
Obviously, our thieves didn't know that they don't keep much fuel in new cars and trucks out on the lot...
