So true Mike...I was quoted $100 for muffler & install and the tip cost me another $60. Mine didn't come with factory tip and I had one of those screw on ones on there and didn't want to put that on the new muffler. Well worth the extra money as the new one is much nicer than the cheesy one I had on there before.

I'm from the old days when we put "Hollywood" mufflers on the cars and then got tickets for improper equipment. Is the IMCO street legal? I would like a little more sound, but want to be able to pull in the church parking lot and not give anybody a heart attack.

 

The IMCO's the way to go then.

As others here know I had a little drama with my exhaust, no need to go there now, and I have been very happy with the sound and performance of the IMCO.

When I pull into the church lot, its quiet enough not to turn the old blue-hairs heads, no offence intended to any who may be here, and just load enough to be heard well.

Hope this helps. Had mine installed for $35, paid $36 delivered for the muffler and re-used factory tip.

The muffler is a no-brainer. HUGE returns on your investment. nice deep sound, more power, better looks than the stock "turtle."
That and the Stubby are the first two things I'd do...and the 3rd Brake Light Overlay...and...

I've also got decals for the vintage CHEVROLET on the grill and two HHR decals to cover up the airbag warning stickers. Those are going on Saturday. Eventually I want to get some scrolled pinstriping decals for the hood and 5th door to match the pinstriping already on the car. I also want to do the muffler thing with a chrome tip.

If I had the money, I have an idea in my head for some fly chrome rims but that one really is a pipe dream along with a V8 engine.

 

I hate to keep asking stupid questions, but does that muffler affect the warranty at all???? I don't want to lose that.

 

Good question.... I wouldn't see why it would though. Mufflers go bad and get replaced all the time. I don't know why one would affect the warrenty any differently than another. I've been wrong before though.
