It is simple economics.

Before we ever run out tight supplies would restrict people buying it. The fact is it would become so expensive it will be available only to the small groups that can afford it. The only reason we stick with it now is has been the cheapest energy available.

There are still large reserves out there but they are in places we are not letting people drill or they are too difficutto get to for it to be profitable at the present price.

Oh I am sure there is point we will be out of oil but the fact is that is will happen no time soon. The price will just make it to the point what oil we have will be unusible because it is too expensive to buy.

This was not my idea but I have listen to several note economist on this topic and it is pretty straight forward.

The real question is what things will we use to replace oil and all it does for use. What will be the cost effective materials and energy sources that will take its place.

So i guess we should have a "park your car" day of protest.

pick one day in one week that you could just park your car and leave it. take public transportation if you need to run an important errand.

not only would that drop gas demand for a day but also help the environment

I know it works is some areas but here it takes you 2 hours to go what is a normal 20 min trip.
I just told the wife last night I wonder how many gallons per rider they burn in the buses here in Akron. You seldom see more than just a few people on board as no one rides them.
