Drat! First time in 20 years

I got pulled over for speeding Saturday, hurrying to faire!
CHP caught me on the NB 405 right before the 605. I was in the #1 making up for lost time. CHP caught me with a LIDAR gun at 81 MPH in a 65 MPH area. it felt weird to get pulled over as I have not had a ticket since 1988.
I can't help but wonder if the fact she is Sport Red Metallic has anything to do with it.

Oh well, we will see what traffic school is like this time!

Matt

You know what they say about Red cars! I try and keep it under 78 when traffic permits.

True, one of the things I have learned over time is that the one thing you really own in life is your own choices. And If I want to Talk the Talk, I need to walk the Walk. Ya cannot blame an officer for doing his job.

My kids were in the back seat(21 year old know it all). All I wish is that the eldest had shut up while I was talking with the officer about how I was tagged, I really wanted to know. The "Daddy we are _late_" from the back seat did not help!

The LIDAR is fascinating stuff, as all the have to do it hit your front plate, or either headlight and they can lock your speed easily. Headlights are especially good for this sort of thing. The guns are about $4300, and the officer has to be trained.

My Last car was a 1986 VW vanagon. It had at most 2/3 of the horsepower that the HHR does. it had to work to get to those speeds. The HHR throttle is _light_, and it gets going fast even with the 2.2, IMHO. It was my foot on it though!

The worst part is, I normally keep it under 80, at most 75. That day I broke my own rule, and see what happened...

I need to put a Han Solo quote on the dash somewhere, from SW #2/5...
"I dunno, Fly Casual!"

I just want to know how you were able to go over 25 mph on the 405N!

I live by this: It is our choices, Harry that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. (Albus Dumbledore)

sorry about the ticket...

Mchuntley......

Sorry to hear about the ticket.....and, depending on the traffic school AND the "instructor", you will have some fun (been many years for me when rushing to a funeral in the Tumecula area ).

Anyway I congratulate you on accepting responsibility. Not many people do and that's part of the maturity factor.

One of these days I do want to get my speedometer checked, just for my peace of mind, since this did not come with the wheels/tires on the original invoice(but something nicer!).

I wonder when AAA is having it's next clinic?

Well, it was a Saturday morning, about 7:45 AM, so traffic is lighter.

And I love the quote... I think I may snag it and put it in my favorite quotes section of my web site!

Use ther mile posts and a stop watch or sweep hand wrist watch while driving on one of the Interstates.

60 MPH = 1 mile in 1 minute. And it should be very close...actually only .01-.02 to be essentially right on.

It's a quick and reasonably accurate method used by some PD's.
