Agreed on the 'dyno-babble', although I'm as guilty as anyone regarding talking about/bringing up the subject. I too am not the most versed individual in 'car-speak'- never claimed to be. Although I do feel I know enough to call-out B.S. when I see it (which may be a benifit of all members)!!
My concern regarding 'dyno figures' typically doesn't stem from what is stated, rather what ISN'T. This is especially true when it relates to SALES of products from various vendors. IMO- it really irks me when there seems to be a lot of praise toward one product over another (biased perhaps?) with little to no solid proof (hence dyno numbers). This, of course, is nothing new... it's been going on for decades- and I'm sure will continue well into the future.
Don't get me wrong- in the past I've also stated (in the same breath) I would never expect to drive a 250+ hp HHR as a daily driver... without expecting MAJOR mechanical problems sooner or later (again- to the benifit of all members). It's just not practical. And that goes without saying that dyno numbers, when provided, can be extremely 'deceiving'.

All-in-all, I try to keep a neutral opinion on most topics. Although I might not have done the best 100% of the time, I agree that the topic of dyno's (in general) do more harm than anything!

Thanks for bringing it up ... we're all here to learn - even if it's from our own mistakes.

Funny how you don't really see the previous 'dyno-discussers' chiming in here! Then again- maybe that's for the better.

thanks for the reply. I'm not try to whine, more or less just point out what I've been seeing from an "outsiders" perspective. I expect for folks to debate about topics, that's the purpose of the board. It's just amazing how people think there is only one way to do things, some mods are better than others and that "giving up the dyno" is gonna change anything.

I definately feel that they serve a purpose, but in the long wrong run who really cares? Again, most of the mods presented are only gonna show modest gains AND are a matter of personal preference and braggin rights (which is cool at the car show!). If owner X shows you a dyno that shows that his mod gave him 60 hp, are you gonna do it? Probably not! Are you (and I don't mean you specifically) gonna believe it?Folks are gonna pick that thing apart and there is no way to absolutely guarantee what somebody slaps up on the internet is valid anyway...hence...I digress

you guys get the point...do whatchalike...nobody has to PROVE ANYTHING...peaces

Any horsepower gains from a Manufacturer should be taken with a grain of salt. 90% of them are going to give you an inflated number with perfect conditions and possibly even in a controlled atmostphere. Real world testing will most likely give you different results. But even modest gains in a vehicle of the size and weight of the HHR when combined with more than one modification will definitely boost Hp and throttle response. Is it going to turn your HHR into a 1/4 mile monster? No! But it might even get you a little more MPG if you drive like a sane person.
