End of the road for Chrysler's PT Cruiser

The article also stated:
"Under the proposed plan outlined in the Journal, Chrysler dealers would sell all of the automaker's passenger cars under the Chrysler name. Dodge dealers would sell only pickup and commercial trucks, and Jeep dealers would sell only Jeep sport utility vehicles."
What took them so long to figure that one out?
Chrysler must get "lean and mean" to compete. Dropping the PT is sad, but they may reconsider if their sales remanin above 100,000 units per year. (I think they sell most of them in SoCal. )

There's a house nearby me that for years had two very unlikely cars in the driveway for being given the total makeover/restoration/hot rod treatment: a Pinto station wagon and a Mustang II. Those cars had brilliant paint, were kept utterly spotless, and shined brightly enough to cause retina damage. They were each modded a little bit to make them look a little "hot roddy," without being over the top. To date, those are the only examples of the Mustang II or Pinto that I can look at and think, "Heyyy...not bad!" A few years ago they both disappeared, though. Every time I drive by that house, however, I think of those cars!

Yeah, I hear the SSR's are really hot now
"Although the PT Cruiser is still the fifth-most popular compact crossover in America, just behind the Chevrolet HHR, overall sales are down 27 percent this year, according to the Power Information Network."
What are the top 3?

Back in about the mid 90's, GM was losing almost $1200 (average) on every Camaro sold. They continued building because of "market Share", image and, IMO, stupidity. It contributed to the existing problems of GM.
