Engine option NU5 versus option NU1

Engine option NU5 versus option NU1
Hi everybody, this is my first post.
I'm the proud owner of a 2009 HHR LS PANEL. The engine had just turned 140K miles before I ruined it. The OEM clamp holding the hose to the bottom of the radiator rusted to the point where it broke. Over time the hose got loose and eventually disconnected under pressure while I was driving. I noticed a strange noise at an intersection, the motor sounded like a diesel engine. It took another 30 minutes to ruin the engine driving it without any coolant! How could that happen ... My other cars all have red lights that light up or just shut down when they overheat. I did not pay attention to the temp gauge.
I pay now for my sin by having to swap the engine. I bought an engine with these specs:
Engine Assembly 2.2L (VIN 5, 8TH DIGIT, OPT LAP), CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS, OPT NU1
YMM Fits: 2009 Chevrolet HHR.
The engine has just 60K miles.
My question:
The engine I have has the VIN # 3GCCA85B79S578833 and the option NU5 which I learned is a flex-fuel engine. My car has the yellow fuel cap.
The engine I bought has the option NU1. Will the wire harness be the same? I did never actually use flex-fuel and don't need the NU5 option.
The engine I bought also has the option YMM of which I can not find any info about.
If one of the readers can help me with some answers I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time and help.
BTW, I love my HHR Panel version ... it is the perfect car for what I need.

Not VIN matching, it is re learning the variation; A shop with the correct computer can do it.
Your flexfuel is a 2009-2011. Depends on what year your replacement non-flexfuel engine is from. The computers are programmed differently, you might need to get reprogrammed, not sure.
"Fits" means physically fits in the car. The main difference betweem LE8 and LAP is flexfuel.
The LAP is a 2.2L engine that is in Cobalts.
The LE8 is a 2.2L flexfuel engine in HHRs.
The LE9 is a 2.4L flexfuel engine in HHRs.
The VIN decoder is located in the TOOLS dropdown in the tool bar at the top of this page.
?No flexfuel badge on the tailgate? The yellow cap means flexfuel. "E85 compatible" is the same as "FlexFuel".

The donor car is actually a Cobalt as you correctly stated.
Are all 2009 HHR equipped with flex-fuel engines with variable valve timing?
If I need to, where could I re-program the car?
What is the YMM option? (This was part of the specs given by lkqonline.com where I bought the engine.
Below is the label of my car showing the options of the car.

This might work, be possibly not

In which case you take it to local garage and ask them to relearn the sensor, the one from the donor car might work.

I did learn the difference between the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft actuator solenoids. The camshaft actuator solenoids are responsible for the variable camshaft timing and actually do not sense any positions, instead they control the position. Good point that you pointed that out in your post.
I looked through all the options and could not find the YMM; I begin to think it has nothing to do with any options ...
Also, my research so far lets me believe that all 2009 HHR are flex-fuel equipped engines, correct?
