I’ve got to clarify, our thermostat spec is 180 degrees.
our Dexcool has a life of 5 years.
have you considered, simply draining the cooling system, flushing out the heater core, installing an AC Delco 131-158 thermostat, then refill the system with fresh 50/50 mix Dexcool.
Ive stuck to the five year life of Dexcool, and have no problems in hot 106 degrees in summer and -10 degrees in winter.
my 2.2 is consistently running at 180 to 200, on the DIC digital readout.

The important number is "above 180F". That is the reason for a thermostat.

Hope to increase w grille nostril mods. (See my other post today).
Since I only recently had the serious plan to modify the grill, I haven't tracked summer temps.

What's considered normal for temperate zones like Midwest, Northeast (NY, OH, PA, IL, etc.)?

What temps ea. season are ideal?
You have a 180° tstat so it should run close to that if the complete cooling system is up to snuff.
In Florida heat at 95° ambient, it runs at or near 180°, occasionally up to 184° with or without the a/c under all conditions except when sitting at a long lite without the a/c on and it will climb up to around 215. I then turn the a/c on and it goes back down immediately.

This thread from 2006 has REALLY gotten off topic. The necromancer wanted advice on RAISING the operating temp in a misguided attempt at improving MPG.

I'm tired of reading the same off topic replies now. CLOSED.
