Oh, yes, did you transfer that seal when you replaced the canister vent valve? I forgot, and was quickly reminded when I was cleaning up and noticed it still on the OEM valve.

Yes replaced the purge valve under the hood and gas cap assuming they were the issues. Then replaced canister vent soleniod which is next to charcoal canister. All hoses were pushed on correctly and I did put that seal back on the canister. I can remove it and put some sealer on it and see what happens. Does Standard make good sensors anyone know? What are the chances the sensor was bad to start with?

Nope stock fuel pump with 155,000 miles. It ran perfect today to work but that’s what it’s been doing. That’s why I question the canister working correctly. Like sometimes it gets stuck closed causes issues and throws code. Next time it opens and closes correctly... Other then the gas cap warning even if you drove around without a cap it wouldn’t cause and performance issues.

I don't recall you telling us what the code number was? P0442 is a small vac leak. It is kind of useless to just go buy a random part because the CEL lights up.

I would triple check the seal on the vent valve and use a scrubby to clean the filler neck. Make sdure all of the rubber hoses around the gas tank are good.

Okay I will pull it off and check the seal. Clean the filler neck better too. Will go over the lines again and make sure everything is good. Only smelled fuel smell twice and never again. Could have just been the gas.

The valve I replaced was a Standard, I replaced it with AC Delco as I said earlier, that was went I first bought the 2011 last August. That code hasn’t returned.

Well dang then I bet that’s my issue since you had a problem.. well went to start it and didn’t want to quite catch like it does once a while. Check engine light kept coming on and off with same code. It’s off for now.. it still sluggish for the first two miles then went away.

So evap stuff won’t effect performance at all or will it?

Just answered my own question.. says online a failing evap canister will cause hard starts and slow or rough rpms. Thats exactly what I’m dealing with and the electrical side of the sensor must be failing that’s why the CEL goes on and off.

You keep saying "sensor"; both are valves operated by solenoids. The purge valve allows fumes to be burned in the combustion, the vent valve allows air into the gas tank so it does not "vapor lock".

The hard starting and rough running usually comes from the Purge valve being stuck open. That causes the A/F mixture to be lean by letting extra air into the mixture. Usully, but not always, causing a couple of different codes.
