Exhaust
Reading all the posts about mufflers is exhausting and that brings me to a question.
Has anyone experimented with the Super Trapp tunable muffler on their HHR. We used these tunable mufflers a lot on hot rods and now their making them for 4 bangers. They've been around for many years and are real popular on dirt bikes because you can tune them for sound level and move the engines power band by changing the exhaust system scavenging / back pressure.

I had one on a 88 Beretta GT. I liked it a lot, plus it looks cool. I was toying around with the idea of 2 of them for my 1993 Camaro Z28 when i put my LT headers on. I want trual duals and muffler options on a 4th geb f-body with duals is slim if you want good ground clearance. I will have to look into the Supertrapp for the HHR now..

I ran a supertrapp setup on a Jeep I had back in the 80's. Good power; a simple muffler change netted 12hp (with a 258 6-cyl), and the Trapp after dialing in, gave a 15hp increase. I think the downside for the HHR is a) looks and b) sound - it would sound pretty ricey like a "fart can" on the HHR's eco engine.
Trapps are tuned by adding/removing discs, which increases/decreases backpressure. the more discs - the more noise also. Once you get the desired performance you are stuck with the sound it provides with x # of discs in it. They're a little pricey too.
Just my $0.02
