Thanks to all for the replies. I do not see that the offer I have from GM talks about getting money back. I need to look at that part again. It does have $100 deductible for any visit.

On the one I got, there is zero deductible as well.

I bought the extended because of my intent to keep the HHR, so why not have all of the protection that I can.

Last I remember, none of the MANUFACTURERS warranties reimburse the unused portion. Some of the AFTER-MARKET warranties do. This may have changed, however.

But, according to Consumers Reports, Consumers Digest and most BBB's, they say you are far better off purchasing the manufacturers warranty, if purchasing one. Aftermarket, warranty insurance policies have had a long history of going out of business and having consumer claim problems (dan-D's example). GENERALLY, these agencies do not recommend extended warranties on vehicles. But, there is exceptions ("Cowboy" might be one for example).
