what can be done if you already walked off the lot with a used hhr and paid like 1850.00 for a 40/60,000/100 through a third party?

You can cancel it and get a refund for the unused portion. Be prepared, they are going to try and talk you out of it.

My toal amount FINANCED with no money down, no trade, + TTL and 6/100k warranty was only $14100 and some change. I think knowing the right people and getting the last 07 on the lot helped...as did the fact that they "lost" the car in inventory and it had a dented hood (was replaced for free with the LT hood and grill), 4 extremely underinflated tires (from setting), was filthy dirty, and had a dead battery. They couldn't believe I even wanted it...LOL. The ugly ducklings always turn out best!

Gotta agree with this guy. A dealer's salesperson's task is to extract as much cash as possible from every deal in every area of the deal all the way as is the sales manager, the service manager, all the way to the commissioned F&I guy..... Nothing wrong with that but the tactics and SHOUTING, misleading advertising, and paragraphs and paragraphs of small disclaimer print makes the word Stealership" valid in most cases.,

Fear is used to sell a lot of useless junk. If fear is brought into the advertising equation or the word "Virtually" I pass ,

Warranties are a waste of money and a very nice source of profit which very few benefit from. There is no warranty worth paying extra for. IF someone cannot sleep at night becasue they are afraid of a $2000 repair bill they should be looking for a more reliable car.

I have never bought a warranty on anything which includes many late model used cars, motorcycles, 30 years worth of TVS, refrigerators, Desktops, Laptops, cell phones on and on....I figured out I was offered over $10,000 worth in warranties when added up. I may have spent $4000 on replacement and or repairs on those items if that over the years.

Every consumer organization and advocate will agree there is no warranty worth buying. They are simple a waste of money and huge profit for those selling them. Extended Warranties alone paid for either Best Buy or Circuit City's ENTIRE OPERATING budget in 2006!!

EWs on cars are rarely used to the extent of their initial cost. IF they were they would not be making money on them and either they would cost a lot more or not be sold at all.

Always bet with the house........

Do you really really believe you will spend $1600 on your car in the next 38k miles? $2100 in 75K miles? I would not buy a car if I thought I would spend that much in 75K? I'd find another car I had more confidence in.
Put the money in the bank and let it draw interest. Use it for repairs if you need it. I m betting you will have plenty left over,,,,,,,,
I have no doubt I will not spend more than $800 in "warranty" repairs on my 2006 HHR in the next three years. So far so good.
