Factory Fog Light Install Help Needed...

I know I've posted a few times about installing factory fog lights on my LS. I installed the factory fictures, no problem, just snapped right in. I finally got my wiring harness with relay and this is where I'm lost. The instructions that came with it are marginal at best. I've looked this up on the how-too guide on this board and it is very informative but the pics are missing. I hope you can help me on the following questions:

What is the best way to run wires to the fog lights? Do I have to remove the the entire wheel well lining??

Where is the best place to tap into power?? By the under-hood fuse panel or do I need to run power from the battery??

Is there any particular good spot for the ground? What are you guys grounding too??

Where is the best access hole thru the firewall for switch wiring??

I'm NOT using a factory switch and I'm not worried about BCM programming. What is the best place & easiest palce to mount the switch. I'm thinking the panel under steering wheel??

Is there any thing I'm missing / forgetting??

Sorry for the laundry list of questions and thanks in advance for your help. Any pics you could offer would be greatly appreciated as well. You guys rock!!

I can't answer it all but will say to tap off the + cable under the hood. Just be sure to have a in line fuse near the power source. Any metal part will work as ground. I think I read that you can fish the wire thought the firewall someplace to get it to the dash.Could be in that how do thread. Hopefully someone others will add some more and maybe even someone that did it.

Just checked that thread on fogs and the pictures don't show but then I found this thread and it may be of some help. nice picture on this one https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/general-hhr-4/aftermarket-fogs-w-factory-switch-4703/

I drilled a hole for the wire right behind the brake pedal on firewall and did it right below the floor mat to hide the wires.

I also used a small lighted switch and put it in the fog light blank using a Dremel. the picture is a little fuzzy but you shouldbe able to see what I mean. The switch will not be real easy but it is clean and easy to fix if you wish to change later.

I put my ground on an existing bolt. When you open hood there is a wire harness just on the right by the A/C nozzle. I just got a nut and bolted the wire to that.

I hopes this helps with some of your questions

I got a harness with mine that only had a positive and ground wire, so I split the red wire to the switch from the harness and wired it to one of the low beam headlights. That way, I can leave the switch on and when my lights come on the fog lights do too. They're hooked to the low beam because the vehicle code says they can only be used that way. Not legal in California to run them on high beam. This way they are automatic.

Good ideas guys...thanks!! I'm still wondering how to get the harness from the engine bay to the actual fog light area in the bumper. Do I have to remove ALL of the wheel well liner or just part of it. I only had to move part of it when I installed the fictures but didn't see any clear-cut way to route the wiring. I'm sure I can figure it out, I'm just trying to make this as quick and painless as possible. Thanks again!

Look under the cowl area on the drivers side. You will see a rubber grommet with a wiring harness already running through. Using a wire coat hanger, you can push your power wire through that grommet (away from the factory harness). Then you can just pull the wire through on the inside. You only need to run one wire through the firewall.

You have to use a relay. Wire the low current feed to the relay to your low beam and have the relay switch a higher current separately fused line to the fog lights.
