Farewell HHR :(

Wow! Ben thanks to God no one was seriously hurt. Don't forget to replace that HHR with another HHR.

My wife and I learned today that we have to say goodbye to one of our HHR 's. Last night, an old lady decided to go off roading in her chrysler minivan. She didn't have her headlights on when she popped back onto the country highway from a cornfield.
Estimate to fix her vehicle that we got today is why we just learned that we will have to let the old HHR go. Seems sad since it still runs great.

I've got absolutely no supporting evidence on this, but I keep hearing how well the HHR protects its occupants in collisions. Because of it's shape (kind of an oval) with fairly small body openings, I think the body is fairly strong, and I think the seats are especially tough. Benjiwah, did you notice any damage to the seat structures afterwards?

Absolutely nothing wrong with the cab structure, inside or out. The seats are perfect, like nothing ever happened. The hood is dented an buckled up a bit and the rear hatch is dented all to hell. But again, my wife's car was the only vehicle that suffered two impacts and the only one that didn't need to be towed from the scene.

I'll admit when I first read the subject line (befor clicking) the first thing was "man after all that work he did...", but after reading the REAL story I was relieved to find out your FAMILY is ok! Its nice to know your money was well spent when a back to back hit protects your family that well! I know ill feel safer driving mine. God was definitely watching over your wife, kid, and the other 2 involved.

Yes, I too am glad that my wife and daughter are fine, the HHR is designed to withstand a collision well, and that it was not the HHR that I have so many hours invested in. Hers was going to get a lot of mods too, but it would have remained a Chevrolet. Her next one will be an HHR, and the planned changes will commence. Only the next one will be a 5 speed.

They'll bounce right off!! BOING lol. I wish I could get my wife into an hhr.. shes an import kinda girl.. 06 Nissan Sentra SE race yellow, she started talking last night about getting a new car, im trying to push her toward a new Civic SI, ill admit those things are beautiful when done well. Especially in the blue with a set of 7 spoke offset bronze rims! only downside is ive tried SO HARD to let me mod her car, and she just wont let me do it... been bugging her since she got it to let me paint her calipers and drums to match and she just brushes it off... FRUSTRATING
