Faux Split Rear Window

Well I think my Purple Eye has been on long enough now.

I may go with a Faux Split Rear Window made with Vinyl of course.

Started working out the design this after noon.

Should give Morticia a vintage look.

The Black vinyl would be cut around 17X42 or so with the split ovals cut out, if I used matte black as the ouline would sorta look like a black rubber gasket around the split glass.

Could use Chrome vinyl or a silver metallic I have. I may outline them with the matte and either the silver or the chrome to get a 3D type effect. To look like a rubber gasket with a Trim Ring surrounding them each.

Once I install the shiny black vinyl I will just Trim it along the rear windows edge, should blend in with my Black Panel pretty well.

I'll lose my OZZY sticker tho.

What about a bit more square but with rounded corners? Like the shape of the actual car.

1) I have a Panel, so I don't have all those square side windows you windowed guys have.

2) I played with some shapes like that you mention and they just kept reminding me of a full sized vans rear doors.

3) Totally not the look I am after.

Maybe on a windowed HHR a rectangled split window would look ok, just Not feeling it for my Panel tho.

It will definately be some sorta oval curved type shape for the look I want. Gotta remember the outside glass is bigger than the actual view you can see out the rear glass so the "split" window is not to scale yet, will be smaller in the end.

Got the third brake light at the top as well, so that will be a cut out to keep it showing.

Just refining the shape I want and will put it on if the weather holds up here.

Since I computer cut all my own vinyl stuff I just change it out whenever I like, so it could be on a month or two and I rip it off and do somthing else.

Naw, not "vintage" enough. I say #1. But all 3 would look good if well done, and Id try for chrome as you already have chrome trim.

Take a look at old split window bugs. They were oval and may be what you are looking for.

I agree, the 2nd design is closer to the mark.

Looking back at his first rendering it looks a lot like the Bugs windows.
