Feasibility of Transmission Swap
Greetings Everyone, I currently own a Late 2006 (2007) HHR with the 5-speed transmission in it with over 50,000 miles on it. A few months ago I injured my right shoulder damaged the rotator cuff. I have healed up for the most part but still have reoccurring pains (especially when shifting my HHR). I have my HHR just the way I want it know and dont what to give it up or start paying for another vehicle. Does anyone have any ideas about the possibility of swapping out my 5-speed transmission for the factory automatic transmission???? If it is possible, I also wonder how much it would cost to do it???? Any help would be appreciated.

anything is possible, however you'll be swapping out the BCM and tons of other stuff since it is an electric transmission hence the 4t45E. not just the mechanical tranny, axles, and linkage.
its easier to buy an auto

I started having severe pain in my right shoulder rotator about 4 months ago. Per a recommendation by a coworker, I started taking this about a month ago and now can lift my arm above my head again and the pain has subsided to a mild inconvenience now. I hate getting old.
By the way that is me on the left.

Yeah I buy those pills when they go on sale at Costco, I do see some improvement with them.
I also think you are better off getting another car, and why not try some different options this time? If you like the HHR now, I bet you would like it even more with the options you didnt get the first time.
BTW, you might still want to shift between D and I, but that will be much easer on you.

Thanks for all the information. I think I will let my shoulder rest a week or so by making the wife drive my HHR. On second thought, I think I will look for those Glucosamine and Chondroitin pills. Last time I let her drive my HHR she forgot it was a stick and killed it two times (forgot to push in the clutch pedal). Needless to say, she has not driven it since. Thanks again – Great place for helpful advise and information.
