It looks like that lower grille is a modified stock upper grille that was cut + flipped to fit the lower grille? If so, the only way I've seen to remove the 2nd bowtie is to cut out that section w/ the bowtie and 'glass in the opening. I've seen a thread on someone else doing it to theirs on here, though I forget who. I believe it's the guy w/ the white panel (though that won't help you much with finding the thread I've in mind I'm sure).

Later

If you were real careful and crafty you could cut out that section where the bowtie is and splice in a matching piece from the rest of the grill. That way you would keep the chrome and only have two fine lines.... you would have to seal those lines to keep the chrome from peeling. Being below the bumper it would almost be invisible.

Overall, the "retro style" modding isn't my thing, though I'm definitely a fan of retro rides (I've owned 2 New Beetles, a PT GT, and now my SS). But you've nailed this style well...it really does look very 50s, though the window deflectors take me out of the theme somewhat.

The color lends itself wonderfully to this motif.

I would agree about the lower bowtie, kills the upper/lower grille look, though I think once the lower bowtie is removed, that look will work nicely. Reminds me a little of the '05 and earlier PTs.

I'd be careful about doing anything more to the exterior...it's got enough to look at already...anything more and it will get too busy. I think removing the eyelids is a good idea...they don't really fit your theme (at least not to me).

I was planning on entering my car soon...maybe we can go up against each other next month.

EDIT: The eyelids are growing on me.

@asanti & Greybeard999 Thanks for your ideas. At first, i was going to keep the bowtie. As a matter a fact that bowtie is brand new because i bought it when i cracked the one that was on it when i was cutting the grille. But, the bowtie has just grown against me. But im going to keep looking into this.

@Devils950003 Thanks! And i do plan on entering but not at this time. I want to get the lower bowtie removed, and add my fogs before i do. But i do plan to do both of these soon im staying on it. And i definately agree no more exterior modding. so on to the interior now! im looking at getting illuminated door sill soon to!
