The Final Straw *angry rant*
So I'm sitting here typing this mess out and thinking about the truth about todays customer service. Many of you have read and event commented on a previous thread titled "Pissed Off At Dealer". For those who didn't get the chance to read it, it was about two features that were supposed to be available on my 2008 HHR 1LT that turned out not to be available and I didn't find out until after I signed the papers for my loan on my car. The two features were XM Radio and ABS Breaks that was supposed to run the turn by turn navigation by On Star.
A week and a half ago, I decided on the advice from several members to contact the GM (Owen) of Mac Haik Chevrolet (Houston,Tx). I voiced my comments on the two items that were lacking, I didn't ask for any freebies nor did I expect any, I was simply voicing my concerns on the two items that I was told I would have, that I didn't get. Owen (GM of Mac Haik) asked me to come on down and he would make it right, so I did. At that point he asked another gentleman whom I believed was the Sales Manager to go ahead and get me setup with the XM Radio at no cost to me, awesome! This fella sets me down with Ida (pro shop manager) and tells me he'll get me the XM modual for my radio since it's XM Ready, he then says if he can't get it if a aftermarket unit would be acceptable, he points to a sheet with 3 units on the paper ranging from 79.99 - 179.99, I thought they looked decent and said sure but would prefer the OEM unit first. Ida asks me when I can bring it in, I give her a date of one week from the day I was there, which was this past Tuesday. I tell her if they can't get the unit in before my appointment, let me know so I can reschedule. Fast forward to yesterday (Tuesday). I drop the HHR off at the dealer at 930am, I head over to see Ida and she informs me that she is just now going to order the unit (uhm, why did she wait one week to order it?) she picks up a catalog and I notice there was XM and Sirius, I ask if Sirius is a option and she seems annoyed but says yes, she goes to order me the Sirius instead. I wait in the lounge for the shuttle guy to come get me, but he leaves and never grabs me, awesome, I had to wait 35 minutes for another shuttle to take me home......around 230pm I get a call from Ida that the unit isn't in stock and they have to order it and will have it on Wednesday (madness scale 1-10, i'm a 1.5). I say keep the car and get it done...So Wednesday comes, I call around 12ish to find out the status to see if my car is done, Ida informs me that the guy is going to pick up the part now and will have it done soon, great! 4pm rolls around and i'm starting to wonder, I call back, Ida tells me that they're working on it and should be done any time now, slightly annoyed, I wait some more...6pm rolls around and i'm annoyed (scale of 1-10, i'm a 2) I drive up to the dealer with my wife, just around the corner from the dealer, they call me and tell me it's done....great.
So here's where the **** starts....
I go check out the car, I open the door and WHAT THE ****...I don't see any of the nice units in my HHR, instead I see a $39.95 unit sitting on my dash that looks like ass and lights up a bright amber color. (scale 1-10, i'm a 4). I swallow it down and say ok, get out of my HHR and suddenly I see this hidious antenna right over the drivers door towards the front windshield...holy..piss..****ing..monkey..it's 3m taped to my paint! (i take very good care of my paint and spend endless hours detailing it and waxing)..instead of the magnetic piece that is normally there, it's 3m taped and it's on there damn good. (scale 1-10, i'm a 7.5). At this point I'm pissed, I have a cheap ass unit instead of a decent unit, and now there is a ugly ass antenna 3m'd to my damn roof! (too add insult to injury, they didn't even wash the spot where they 3m'd it too). I tell my service advisor i'm pissed and when I get home, I'm ripping it out, she tells me to go talk to Ida and instead of ripping it out, have it professionally taken out to avoid damage. I head in to see Ida and at this point I figure lets see what else they screwed me out of, it's been more then a month since I bought my hhr, my paper plates expired once and my 2nd one was about to expire...oh..what do you know, customer service has had my plates for about a week or so and never bothered to call me, THANKS *******S. I go talk to Ida, tell her I'm not happy with it and mad about the antenna stuck to my roof with tape, she looks at me with a dumb annoyed look and tells me to go home and think about it and if tomorrow I want, I can schedule to have it removed, i'm pissed and leave the building...(scale 1-10, i'm a 8.5)..I get in my HHR, start it up and WHAT THE **** #2 happens, 120 extra miles driven on my car and more then quarter of a tank used up....(scale 1-10, i'm a 9.5) I say something to my service advisor and they feed me crap....I say **** this place and leave (scale 1-10, 10!!!!)
So here's a list of events that have occured since purchasing this HHR on March 26, 2008.
1. find out on March 26th that my HHR doesn't have XM after I've signed the papers. - fine, i can deal with that.
2. April 19th I head to the dealer to find out where my plates are because they're expired and where is all my bill of sale papers that I signed on day 1, OOPS, he forgot to mail them out, he had them for almost a month and never bothered to call me or mail them, paper plate #2 is added.
3. April 21nd - I call dealer, talk to GM and come down to talk about making it right, they inform me of free xm radio and schedule appointment.
4. April 28th - I drop HHR off for minor molding issue and compass issue as well as having my new XM installed. recieve call that no unit is in stock and the 29th they'll have one in.
5. April 29th - pick up hhr, find cheap ass unit installed, antenna 3m'd to my roof, didn't clean spot where 3m was put down, 120 miles added to my ODO and more then 1/4 tank of gas is gone, i'm treated like **** by my salesman and Ida. Also I find out dealer has had my plates for atleast a week now and never bothered to call me.
I don't think I've ever recieved this kind of treatment from a dealer much less any business, Mac Haiks customer service was beyond POOR. The GM was nice enough to offer a free XM, where they failed is when they showed me a paper with 3 units on that looked fairly nice and when I picked up my HHR I had a cheap ass unit that I had never seen. My financial guy forgets to give me or mail me my documentation on my car, bill of sale and copies of all papers I signed, dealer never calls me in regards to my plates while I drive around on a almost expired 2nd tag. They don't bother to clean the car while it sat at their dealer for two days, I was treated with disrespect by multiple people and my car was handled with disregard. My car currently sits in the garage because I'm beyond pissed, I don't want to look at it much less drive it, I'll drive my gas hog until I feel like dealing with this situation. I've even considered selling my HHR because I feel like I've been violated, my car isn't the same now that they've modified things I didn't want and they've applied adhesive that is next to impossible to remove. Also, after reading the Sirius handbook, I find out they installed the antenna in the wrong place and placed it in the wrong way. I know some of this may sound a bit out of line, but I was happy with my HHR until the GM offered me that stupid radio, I never once asked for anything free, I just wanted to voice my concerns and this is what I get in return. All along they've been begging for a good survery, well, this will probably be the worst survery they ever get, I plan on handing the survery in as well as filing a complaint with the Mac Haik Company as well as Chevrolet. There's something that makes you lose interest in your car when it's mis-handled and badly treated and in this case, my happy spot with my HHR has been ruined. Sorry for the lengthy rant, but this is only the begining, they better expect a hell of alot more from me.

Wow! I am sorry I ever suggested the XM upgrade. I never would of thought that this would go down like it has. The XM upgrade is a hidden module and nobody even knows it has been added. No new antennas, no unit on the dash, it just simply works from the factory radio controls and uses the Onstar antenna. I'm sure they were glad when you opted for the sirius because it was a much cheaper then the GM kit. My parts department has not had any problems getting these GM kits so I don't know why Ida couldn't get one unless there is something new that I am not aware of.
Whatever you do, don't hand that survey over to them. They will just trash it. You have to mail it in to GM not the dealer. And if you don't send it within 2 weeks of receiving the survey from GM it won't even count against them! So fill it out and mail it.
Again, I am sorry for my advice that contributed to a terrible experience for you.

So...they offered you the factory XM option and you chose an aftermarket Sirius solution? And you're complaining because...?
They gave you exactly what you wanted. The antennas for Sirius and XM are not compatible and the preferred method of installing those antennas is to stick them on the roof so they don't move around. I think you're being more than a little dramatic about the 3M tape. It's easily removed with a razor and a little Goo Gone. If you wanted the antenna installed at a different spot on the car, you probably should have said so before they installed it.
As for the 120 extra miles, where would they have driven your car? It doesn't make any sense.
The paperwork, sometimes things get screwed up. They made it right with another paper tag. Did YOU have to wait in line at the DMV to get your own tags like most people? I don't think so.
Fact is, yeah, the dealer screwed up from the beginning, but from what you've said they tried every time to make it right. Take a chill pill, lambaste them on the survey, and enjoy the car you bought. None of this is really worth a heart attack in the end.

Again I ask.....what is up with the GM dealers these days?? And I keep getting told on here not to hold GM responsible. Who is??? Seems like no one. This board is full of poor customer service and quality complaints. At least the dealer didn't wreck yours and try to pass off poor paint as the repair. I can understand your feelings of violation. I hope that everything will work out for you. I've given up.

Wow, don't get rid of a car because of these easily removed items...if you like your HHR, don't let this setback turn you against it! Alot of dealers are lame, but that's life. I'd have them remove the sirius setup, & order the factory XM stuff. As far as the adhesive pad on the roof, DON'T take it off with a razor blade, that's asking for trouble! Use fishing line to cut the pad, you can't damage the paint with that! Then the remaining adhesive is easily removed like crafty said, a little wax, just like new again. Some dealerships can ruin the new car experience, don't let them do it for you & after this radio thing is straightened out, just take it to a different dealer from now on!

It sounds like there's enough negative mojo surrounding your car, I'd unload it.
Then, when you go to buy another one, take a look at the window sticker-it'll tell you if you're getting XM and ABS. Christ, don't rely on what the salesman knows...he's supposed to memorize all the equipment on 300 cars on the lot?
Hardly.
Do a little work yourself, you'll be happier in the end.

But the only way to unload it now is for the dealer to take it back. Selling would not be an option this early in the game. I think, as was already stated, that ProjectX should keep it and have them put it back to original with the GM XM added. If they do that, then ProjectX should not burn them on the survey.
Mojo is what we make it, good or bad, we make it!

Make them take the car back! Do it now before its too late. Take your business to ole Ray Childress at Lawrence Marshall in Hempstead, he would NEVER do you that way, and if something got screwed up, they would make it right instantly.
