Welcome aboard, you've found a great and informative place to hang out.

Like jaydogg I too do my first oil change at 1000 miles, it's just something I do. And at this point I also replace the dino oil with M1 full synthetic and have alway's had great success in every new car I've bought using this method. My last new car was a Focus and that's the method I used on it. I installed a supercharger on the motor at 10k, the car now has about 80k on the clock and the last compression check I did it still had 180 lb accross all four cy's.

I'm hoping to pick up my HHR tomorrow. -Dan

what is great about the ecotecs is they take 5 quarts, M1 5w-30 5 quart container is 20 at wal-mart out here, makes it real easy to change the oil when you only have to pour out of one bottle, instead of 5. Oil change at the dealer cost me 11 bucks. so for 31 bucks i have the M1, and dealer performed maintenance. They wanted 45 for a M1 oil change

Welcome aboard. You'll have a great time with the HHR. I've had mine about a month now and love it. I can't wait to drive it everyday. I too bought off the dealer lot. Got the 2LT with everything I wanted. I'm just like jaydoog & dan-d I also change the oil at 1000 & switch to Mobil-1. Have done that on each new car I've owned. Enjoy your new HHR, and the wonderful advice here on the fourm

My HHR is the red with the tan interior. I really liked it with the chrome and the nice wheels. I live in LeRoy which is about half way between Bloomington and Champaign. I will post some photos soon as I figure out how to do it LOL
