It turns off in 10 minutes even if dont open driver's side door. The 10 minutes starts when you turn "off" car. Atleast thats the way it is in my 06.

RAP will end when one of the following conditions is met:

• The BCM receives an input indicating the opening of any compartment door.

• The BCM internal timer for the RAP expires after approximately 10 minutes.

• The BCM detects a decrease in battery capacity below a prescribed limit.

• The Radio uses an exclusive RAP message that can not be circumvented by any door but the drivers door.

The BCM then sends a serial data power mode message ending the RAP function.

The radio is the only module that is controlled by the serial data circuits.

I tried this on an 08 2LT. I entered through passenger front door. Turned the key on. Turned the key off. Removed key. Shut passenger door. Radio quit after 10 minutes and 11 seconds.

Only the interior lights have this protection. The radio doesn't because by therory it should not be playing unless the key is on or RAP is engaged. The interior lights don't need RAP or the ignition key to be triggered to come on.

Same in my 08 PV. Do it frequently during lunch hour at work.

Folks who were in Gettysburg a few weeks back know that I tried this experiment as well while my CD was playing at Renn Kirby: took out the key, closed the passenger door and opened both back doors to broadcast Elvis until Car 11 showed up.
