Unhappy First Problem with 2007 HHR LS

I bought a HHR LS on Monday of this week. Driving in to work the next morning I notice that the Temp gage was not working. Has any one had a problem with this. I live in Indiana and that morning the outside temp was -2. When I called the dealership they said the negative temp caused the problem. Once the outside temp got above zero. The gage worked fine. Should I be concern? Can the dealership do anything for this? Do I bother to take it in?

That's a very interesting response from the dealer. I had the same thing happen last weekend. It was cold, around -15C, and my temp gauge was not working. After about half an hour and 2 or 3 stops it started working again. The ambient temperature didn't really go up by more than a degree or two. I was going to take it into the shop but it started to work so I didn't bother.

I don't buy the dealer's response. It be been -15 to 0 degrees F here this week and my temp gauge has worked fine.

Welcome to the site. I am in Seymour (50 miles south of indy). My temp gage said -1 the other day when I went to work, when I got ready to come home it said 13, so it must have been working. Our local dealership is excellent, you could always call them or another dealership and see what they say.

Size: 4.6 KB to the site. Second, I would take it into the dealer. If you're leary on that particular dealer go to another. There should be quite a few in Indy.

I gotta agree with everyone else on this. It sounds like a dealer "excuse" rather than an answer.

I've gotta have mine checked. Twice in the last week right after stating, the DIC has said CHECK BRAKE FLUID. It goes out right away but I'm thinking it shouldn't come on at all unless there's a problem. My oil was changed a week ago and the fluid level was fine then so that's not it. I'm lucky that I've found a dealer in St. Louis that is one of the good ones; Weber Chevrolet.

I just took my HHR in to the dealer today. This very issue was on the list of things for them to look at. They say they have a tech bulletin which he is going to give me a copy of on this. I will post it this evening after I pick it up

Hi ginindy! I live about 90 miles south of you in Sellersburg, where our temp that same morning was 3. My gauge registered just fine. I have an '06 1LT, but I don't think that should make a difference. WAY TO GO COLTS!
