The rpo codes are on a decal in the glove box. Key fobs have to be programed by the dealer. Very few aftermarket shops have the scan tool to program key fobs.

My SS only came with one and got one from ebay. Dealer Charged $50 to program it. Works fine even though its not OEM GM.

Not for my HHR but my son's car, went to a locksmith. He sold me a key, since I had another was just looking for a spare set. He did nothing to the car, but the new key has a chip that is programed to match the key we had. Little machine thing copied the code from my existing and put it in the new.
Also saw at a local hardware store they sell replacement fobs now, And they program the fobs also, but those looked to be only for domestics.
These don't look like the OEM but they work fine., the key has a slot in the top that the chip goes into.
Didn't know that was possible, still expensive but fraction of what the Toyota dealer wanted. Said it didn't matter what brand the car was.

The reason for differences is the number of buttons. Remote start fobs have the extra button, panel has 2 extra buttons. "standard" fob has 3 buttons, RS fob has 4 buttons; but the circuit boards inside are identical, the RS button just contacts both LOCK + PANIC, which you can do yourself.

It's a 20 store chain in MN, but they are Ace Stores. When I go by there I will look closer and try to get the brand name off the display that sits behind the counter.

I didn't buy that one because when he said it didn't work with Toyota I didn't ask anything else. Don't know if it works like the key cloner or how exactly.

For 1301st time, IT'S THE CAR THAT GETS PROGRAMED TO THE FOB, A TECHII SCANNER OR EQUIVALENT MUST BE USED. There is no seat of the pants way.
