Front bumper damage.

I bought my '06 LS used with just under 30k miles on it. The dealership that I purchased it from detailed it which was good, but I now see these pitted areas where the bumper has been hit with the normal bug and road debris being highlighted by the wax they used .
Does anyone know what I can use to remove that white build up in those pitted areas on the front bumper? I'd also like to follow that up with some touch up paint.
Thanks.

Would rubbing alcohol be OK to remove the wax build up?

For all your work, it's just going to happen again! How does the hood look? Chips there might be worth repairing but I wouldn't waste time on the bumper.

There are a couple of very tiny chips on the hood. I've already ordered touch up paint from a dealership close by.
As for the bumper, my thinking was that if I could remove the white build up, then they wouldn't be quite as noticable. I may also have to use something that doesn't leave behind any white residue (Turtle Wax Ice, maybe?). I doubt touching up the bumper with paint will look very good as there are just too many scuffs and dings there.

It is a constant fight for which defeat is the only true answer. To bad for us
You have to try to keep the area clean and pit free, but normal use will thwart any real attempt to keep it pristine.

The whole front of the HHR is a battle zone. Lots of chipping will happen to the hood as well. Just the way it is with these cars . They seem to get more abuse than other cars I and my family own. The only cars I have ever owned that are worse are the Corvairs because they have a solid nose with no grill area. I would paint the nose every few years when I drove them daily.

Perhaps some 3M transparent bra approach would work out well? Basically we'd need to coat the front third of the car in 3M tape I think that would work, but be excessive and look funny.

Ah no real answers except the body shop. Perhaps paint jobs should be regular miantanence every ten oil changes or so

Maybe we could use "tear-offs" like they use on the Nextel Cup windshields.
