My 2006 HHR did not come with a front lincense. Where can I get detailed instructions on mounting one?

 

There are 4 dimples on the front bumper. You use 4 rivits to attach the bracket.

 

If you buy one from the dealer it will come as a kit with a picture diagram for install.

 

Some dealers just use plate screws to put them on and trash the rivets. .

 

I bought a license plate frame for my 2006 HHR but I noticed the front bumper is not flat. Also, the holes in the frame do not line up with the dimples on the front bumper. Is there a different license plate frame for the front and back?

 

The factory uses a specific front housing for the plate, It's black plastic and fits the bumper contours....... This is the part people have said comes with the rivets and fits the dimples in the bumper.

 

If you bought the car from a dealer in a state that requires front plates-they are supposed to supply you with one free of charge (from what I understand in NY-your state could be different-but look into it).

 

There's one on ebay right now. It says it's for 2007-2011 models. Was the front bumper any different on the 2006? I didn't think so, but I'm sure there are more knowledgeable people here than me on that. When I bought my used 2008 a bracket was included along with the pop rivets and instructions. Took less than 5 minutes to put it on.

 

Should work just fine on a 2006 HHR. As far as I know the '06 front bumper is identical to the rest of the model years.

 

Like stated you need to plate mount. The holes are for it not the plate. You never should have to bend a plate.
