Fuel Filler Neck Question

I have wanted a locking gas cap for my 09 LS since I bought it new. No such luck until now. Stant has come out with a locking cap for 2010s. I ordered one thinking how much of an issue could it be to fit the 09. Well DOH-just my luck the locking cap sits about 1/8 in too proud and when the door is closed on it of course it sits 1/8 open. the advance auto guy got curious and we went out and tried it on his 09 HHR delivery panel. The door almost sits flush on his with the locking cap on.

The question I have is has anyone seen or removed the filler neck and is the collar that supports the neck to the "filler cup" with the 2 10mm bolts spot welded to the filler tube or epoxied in place on the tube? I removed the bolts and pushed down enough on the neck to see and cant tell. I have removed gas tanks & filler necks before on older vehicles to change pumps, senders, etc. but never an HHR. If you have seen that it is welded is the weld thin enough that I can dremel cut the weld and then move the collar where I need it to make the difference up to fully close the fuel door with the locking gas cap on?

Any and all help is appreciated. It will be raining the rest of the week so I won't be able to get under there and very curious...

Thanks for the info but it lists that only for your 2006. 2009 has no results. 09 was the first year of flexifuel + I think when my filler tube was put together it was made so it sticks too far out of the "filler opening".

I go along with post 2. I believe I got one from Advance Auto and gas door wouldn't close. I got one from Auto Zone and it worked. This is on a 2008 and basically what I am saying is you might want to try another brand.
