I voted 90 but usually I fill up with 91. I have used 89 with 10% ethanol too. I live in the midwest so ethanol is pretty easy to find.

i voted 93 but I meant 91 Forgot what was offered around here for a minute I have ran the 89 before and didn't really notice much of a difference. but I stick with the 91 now because I believe it runs better and cleaner and maybe even better mileage, but that might be just me.

If you are using high octane fuel to "clean your injectors" you are throwing your money away. Octane is simply a rating of gasolines resistance to pre ignition especially as it relates to higher compression engines. Octane ratings have nothing to do with the detergents in a given gasoline. It would not surprise me to find that the detergents mixed into one stations 87 would be better than another stations Premium or 91.

93 nothing less EVER. Dont cheap out on gas if your engine is reccomended for it. Its like maybe a total of max 3 extra dollars to fill the tank.

Glad I saw this post, I had no idea a higher octane was recoomended for the 2.4. You think my salesman would have said something

At least Chevy should put a label on the fuel cap saying 91 or higher octane.



Also never use E85 unless permitted. Your car will run on it, but it is highly corrosive on parts that aren't made for E85.

91+ octane is recommended but not required for the 2.4.

If 91 octane was required, I wouldn't have got it.

Really? A few cents per gallon seems like an odd thing to make or break a deal to me. But then again when I buy a car I don't care about things like fuel economy or what grade fuel it uses.

I use the 10% ethanol, which is the highest percentage you can use. Only thing is out here you really have to watch, some stations have the 85% ehtanol which is ment for the flex fuel. Would be nice if the HHR was a flex fuel. but mine runs good on the 10%, altho the price is not much cheaper anymore since it is in demand.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT put Avgas in your new car. Avgas contains lead still for the valves and will totally wreck your emmissions system and void your warranty. Avgas at it's lowest level is 100LL, standing for 100 octane, low lead. I know this because I am in aviation and have been for 18 years. It's great for old hot rods without emmissions and a catalytic converter. Oh yeah, lead clogs the converter as well.
