Gas Cap Door

Does anybody hear agree that this is one of the few poorly designed things on the HHR? It should be released from inside the car. It is vulnerable to vandals (big city resident) and gas station attendents still ask me to open it since it is unusual to have a plunger release.

I agree about needing a release inside but it does not really bug me.
Just a cost saving item for chevy

If you are worried why don't you just put a locking gas cap on? I always pump my own gas so I don't worry about anyone else opening it.

In Jersey its state law that they pump it for you. Plus it gives people jobs

Personally, I would've preferred to have the gas door released from the inside of the vehicle.

I'm still holding back judgement on that plunger type release... waiting to see how long it takes before it malfuctions/freezes up.

The cap has an odd looking thread-besides, a locking cap is a real hassle.

I have a special cap that has the center with a spring/release so the gas nozzle just pushes in without removing the cap. And that cap didnt come close to fitting the HHR.

You're kidding right? It's illegal to pump your own gas. I would have a hard time living in New Jersey. I don't want some idiot pumping my gas. If I have the option of full or self serve I always go to self serve. If the entire station is full serve I keep driving. Most of the time I just go to places that only have self serve.

There are only two states that allow this. One is New Jersey and the other one is Oregon.
