Gas Pedal Issue

My speed demon days are over, which is another reason why I went with the smaller engine. Don't want to temp myself. lol Matter of fact, I don't think I've taken my car over 75. When you've been in as many accidents as I have, your driving style changes juuuuuuuuuuust a little bit. I have had a couple of "followers", but nothing big.

One thing that concerns me with the police taking a good look (following me to see the HHR) is that I did NOT mount the front license plate or frame as yet (illegal in Ohio). I ran my PT Cruiser for over 2 years without a front plate and no problem and my wife's M35X has no plate mounted as yet. It is really tough for me to even think about drilling holes in the front bumper of any new car. My daughter-in-law got a warning with her Corvette without a front plate, but she has the plate off again and hasn't had any more problems. Also the HHR license plate chrome bracket that I bought on eBay covers the bottom part of the stickers on the rear plate. Next year, I will move the stickers up a bit to solve this problem.
One day while driving into town on the main road, my wife and I did a quick survey, looking at all non-commercial vehicles with Ohio plates. We checked 114 cars and about 12 had no front plate (10%). We did the same thing about 6 months ago and the number was again around 10% without a front plate. I wanted to run more surveys, but my wife told me to "get a life".
Ohio had a bill pending several years ago to eliminate the front plate. This would have saved the state millions of dollars every year. (Ohio always claims to be broke). The bill died in committee, so front plates are still required. I guess the way it works is if you get stopped for something else, the missing plate could become an issue. In the meantime, my front plate is in the back of the HHR and my story is that the dealer brought in the car from WV (an adjoining state that does not mandate front plates) and that the frame was backordered.
I told my wife if she gets stopped with her M35X (Infiniti), her story is that the license plate frame was backordered and was on a ship coming from Japan that was too large for the Panama canal, so had to go the long way around South America. On the way around, it sunk, so we have to wait on another ship.
She isn't going for this story for some reason, so she will have to deal with the matter herself if she gets stopped.

Now I have no idea why you're wife wouldn't be on board for that reason. It sounds perfectly valid to me. Maybe you should make a sales pitch to your daughter to use that story in case she ever gets in a bind. lol
