German HHR
#22
Hey Thomas, welcome to the site. I was visiting family in Poland in April/May of 2007 and was showing them my HHR pictures to try and get them interested.
I was born in Hanau just west of Frankfurt but I've never been back. One of these days I should visit, maybe during Euro 2012 when Poland is hosting.
Enjoy the HHR.

Hey Thomas, I forgot to mention that I don't think your license plates are that bad. In fact, if you could go out and steal one off a neighbours car and send it over to me that would be greatly appreciated!
I tried to get one from Poland but they are strictly regulated and if not returned I've been told there is a pretty big fine or penalty, I'm sure it's the same in Germany though.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the car!!
I was stationed in Frankfurt from 1980 to 1981, before that I was in Ansbach from 1974 to 1976. So take that baby on the Autobahn and let us know how it runs

oh yes. big and ugly.
it is all the german law. no small license plate, no red turn signal on the back,
it is VERY VERY complicated to change the wheel and tire size.
can´t explain it in english but it is impossible to order some wheels in the US and put them on the car (i love the smoothies...). everything you change
on your car must be controlled by an institution called TUV.
and -if for example wheels - have no german certificate there is nearly no way
to put them on your car. if the police stopps you with illegal wheels it will
be very expensive...

I am actually very, very surprised that they sell the HHR in Germany they are so strict there. Is there any turbo SS models headed that way cause it would be nice to see what an amateur driver does on the nurburgring with an SS.

hi,
@solman98: i would try to send you some pfungstaedter, but i think there will be a problem with the american customs duty...
but have a look here: www.pfungstaedter.de
@an08HHR: the clear one ist the back-up light, the red one is the fog light.
the two red lights are reflectors. i don´t´like the reflectors and have to try to remove them.
@MWG2: danke sehr. there was a story about germantown at german TV.
@Daverb: the good old times... at this time the US army closes many barracks.
no more soldiers in frankfurt, hanau will be closed soon, wurzburg is closed. very sad.
for the autobahn: the max. speed of the HHR is 110 mph. not tooo fast. it is very loud inside the car.
but do you know about the gas prices here in germany? one gallone (four litre) is US$ 9.50!
that is the reason why i´ve ordered my HHR with liquefied petroleum gas. price for the gallone is US$ 4,30. that´s a difference.
and another thing to laugh about. the HHR is very cheap in the US. the german price starts at US$ 35650!!! the only model ist the 2.4 engine.
choice of only four colors: black, sunburst orange, imperial blue and dark grey. inside color is black for all outside colors.
you can order only two extras. automatic transmission (costs US$ 1850) and sunroof (US$ 1225)

Oh, c'mon, there's that blue thing in the middle of town that looks like it was a castle at one time or another. Or maybe that old street where all the English pubs are.
