Glad I have onstar

My wife needed my car because of the room and the snows. She left her purse in the car with her key in it....... used my key to start the car and warm it up since it was 1*F out. She went to put the kids in the car (I was already at work) and couldn't get in. It seems she must have brushed the lock pin with her arm and pushed it halfway down when she got out after starting it. She didn't know that at the time and called me.

I went home (it's only 3 miles) saw the pin half way down, whipped out my phone and wallet with the onstar number, called them and in less than 2 minutes had the car unlocked.

I wish I had thought of calling them from my office but I didn't know it was partially locked.

It was kind of funny explaining to the woman @ onstar that we locked the spare key in the car while the car was running

They came to my rescue once too. If not for OnStar I would have had a nice 6 mile walk home.

Well I had to use Onstar just a few days after picking our 09 HHR SS. We stopped to eat dinner after picking it up from the dealership after having a scratch buffed out. So I was in the SS and Brenda was in the 06 HHR Spring Edition. After dinner we went out to head home. I waited for Brenda to leave then got into the SS turned the key and nothing. The radio came on and had power to the Onstar and phone but the engine would not turn over! So I called the wife and had her come back and then got on with Onstar to see if they saw any problem with it. They didn't see anything so they called a towing service to take it back to the dealership. Lets just say I was alittle upset. Only had the car for a few days and a problem already! So while waiting for the flatbed I sat in the 06 with the wife and went to start it up to have some heat and the same thing happened to it!!! Turns out I used the wrong keys in both. Even though the cuts on the keys are different they would still turn in the ignition, but the resistance chip would keep it from starting. So I got with Onstar and said I got the car started and did the same with the towing service. Of course I didn't tell them what had happened! The next day at work everyone had a good laugh at my expense. A friend of mind came in that day with her 06 HHR and I tried my key in it and the same thing happened, the key turns and all the accessories come on but will not start. So if you have two HHR's in your family like us don't get your keys switched!!

I know it sounds weird but it happened. Since we traded in the 06 and got another 09 the 2 09's keys will not turn in the others ignition. Go figure!
