Ok folks,

Here is what GM is offering on Chevy.

First off 0% on all 2006 Vehicles except Corvette and SSR for 36 months.

0% for 60 months for 2006 Impala, Monte Carlo, Silverado, and Colorado

0% for 72 months for 2006 Avalanche, Tahoe, and Suburban

other than that, they changed 2006 rebates:

500 for HHR (first time since vehicle has been out)
750 for cobalt
1500 for malibu v6
1000 for malibu LS
3500 for trailblazer
6000 for avalanche tahoe suburban
2000 for equinox
2000 for impala and montecarlo
2000 for uplander
3500-4500 for silverado (depends what cab size)

The reason some vehicles did not go to 0% is because of limited national numbers. so they offered bigger rebates.

STRAW PURCHASE: This is when a third party buys an automobile and finances it in his name for some else (who will be the actual driver) because of that other person's age, bad credit, or lack of credit, etc

I got the definition from:
http://www.ohiolemonlaw.com/car-dealer-dictionary.html
There is actually a lot of funny stuff on there that I have never heard.

If Captain was a co-buyer, then it is no longer a straw purchase. I wouldn't worry about it too much, it happens everyday.
Well, I'm still a little confused....If you mean specifcally GMAC, I guess you're correct. But, isn't GMAC a part of (or mostly, until recently) GM Corporation (for the past couple years their net income is the only thing that kept GM Corporation afloat). As such would they not be included in the GM Family...like the former EDS, Raytheon, etc.? And, in this case I'm asking because they could have been deleted from this benefit like other holdings.

I would imagine that GMAC employees still qualify for GMS, but it is still called GMS. I don't know about the other companies listed, but for most EDS employees it doesn't pay to use GMS. They get the same price, but for whatever reason the way it is set up through EDS they have to pay tax on the savings (I believe they get a 1099 for the differance between GMS and MSRP, but don't quote me on that). Since most of the dealerships in our area sell vehicles for 3-4% over GMS, the savings do not make up for the tax that they pay.

I don't know about you, but we haven't had a 2006 Avalanche, Tahoe, or Suburban since January. I tried to dealer trade for a 2006 Tahoe a few months ago and found it to be nearly impossible.
